WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade item.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgraders for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. button, which will show a preview of the item level upgrade at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

Upgraders for items can be found in a variety of locations, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only available via a variety of ways. This is both a positive and a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will cost less even when they belong to another set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you should know that Crests are only available to equipment with a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item upgrade in the proper steps and pathways.

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade items process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the best equipment you have and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan on making. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character that will be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are full of high-quality gear.
