World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

The upgrade of an item can be used to boost the stats of a particular item. Based on the type of upgrade it could boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its base stats increase in value. This is the sum of all of its leveled up advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on who you hire and what you do. This is because of how many perks have to be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.

Item level is a popular measurement of power and can be found on all tooltips for items. It is also used to determine a gating condition when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is limited to a lower level). Players can view their average level of items on their character sheet.

Utilizing the level of an item can help players evaluate the power of equipment when deciding to purchase or sell. It's an indicator of the damage and quality. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when looking at a vendor's inventory.

The level of the item upgrader mod can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full item description, including its value. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are a few theories on how the item level calculation is made. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula that calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different values and that sockets have gems that increase the overall value of the item. This can result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is typically very close to Blizzard's actual item level.

However, this is not the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, because the size of the area the item dropped in can change the value of its stats, for instance by adding an amount to its haste or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can be the difference between a good or bad item upgrade for players. The game uses them in many ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stat mods of an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item level upgrade may increase the stats of an item. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. A white or grey item, for example, will only be upgraded once and items with rare tiers can be upgraded several times at more expensive costs.

Affixes can also be used to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can be used to provide items with extra damage or other special abilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to distinguish them by putting a name on them.

All affixes can be being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges similar to other rerolling methods.

Players can upgrade an item with a specific stat or reroll the affixes. The possible ranges of stats for an item are based on the level of the item, however all items are guaranteed to have at least one stat within that range, unless it is an exclusive item or the result of a God roll from a boss of a raid.

This is another thing that could be changed by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or deciding which stats to increase. But as with base equipment, this would have to be done on a per-item basis and the item compare interface wouldn't show all possible stats gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the likelihood of locating items and the properties that are generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with an opportunity to get better gear earlier in the game. This is particularly advantageous in the early game, because players tend to put defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading, which increases with each level of the item and can be further increased through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant a further +40 Luck, or to increase the Luck of an item, up to 140.

Moreover there are certain items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be found in the shop or crafted with the right ingredients.

Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to boost the success rate of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item in the event that it is not successful.

The success rate of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading that item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased by so much, and the likelihood that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The success of an item can be affected by the Luck of that item. All items have an overall success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5%.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects can be obstructed by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
