World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

If the template for upgrading a weapon is %, it will gain 3percent of its previous attack damage each time it is upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost rises with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets in order to provide an additional stat boost or effect while they're in use. They can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before a component can be applied. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific type of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the items that are not ascending back. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, which allows players to make stronger versions of the equipment with the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than are required to achieve the same upgrade level through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence characteristics of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or by purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player can have up to five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of the item will drop at the time of the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of how much they'll increase after a future reset.

Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly and there is a substantial chance that the item could become obsolete or even break when it fails; a failed upgrade item will destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the possibility of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, and include any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways, and we recommend getting them up to level 15 as soon as you can.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained from finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level the item, and once enough points have been earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When the player upgrades an item it is replaced with a different item of the same kind. The same armor can be transformed into a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This could be a drawback in that the item could become more expensive even if you do not require it.

If the player has enough tokens they can reroll item upgrades. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, with a level 1 base and a totally different set of bonuses. This is useful for some items, but it shouldn't be repeated often, as it could waste lots of resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and allows the player to modify their equipment. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or swims like a dolphin). The item can be upgraded multiple times, increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is extremely useful in PvP battles, since an item that is properly rolled it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.

Requirements

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is computed each time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to its base value.
