Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning both dry debris and wet mess in one time, without having to switch between devices. They can also reduce space compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot must be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacles avoidance. Look for models with docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, refill their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has plenty to offer for its low cost, and it's one of the most simple robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and a quick-start guide will have you up and running with a clean and complete dust bag, hard floor solution and water tank in no time.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops spin at a high rate and employ 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to take away pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a selection of brushes and attachments, and a user-friendly application that lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.

You can, for example ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly but leave the bedroom to itself. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models are unable to. Its only minor issue is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at a high speed, but a quick glance at the history of cleaning within the app will show you exactly what it's doing, where it's going and what obstacles it's avoided.

The docking station features an LCD display that displays the time when maintenance is required for cleaning up debris and washing the water tank that is dirty. It is also able to mix detergent into the water tank in a controlled manner with a 600ml of eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time as well, with the mop being capable of operating for 184 minutes in Quiet mode, and the vacuum able to do 136 minutes in normal mode before having to recharge or return to the base to refill. The app is simple to use and intuitive and lets you see all the details of the cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's flagship robot mop and vacuum. The model this year has two agitators built into its mopping pad. This enhances the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an enhanced suction power that allows it to remove finer hairs and other debris other best robotic mop and vacuum cleaners could miss.

As with the other two Roborock models I've tried, this one has reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to help it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by incorporating a dual camera that can detect objects and decide whether they are a wall or another type of surface. It is able to change its path automatically and clean the objects, without missing a step.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed but it's also the most feature-packed. Its sleek and angular design is eye-catching and it has only three physical buttons: the power button, which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock; and a home button to return the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be lifted to reveal a 350ml dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank will empty itself, and the bin is auto-refilling.

The only issue I have discovered with this model was that its VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. You can change the mopping cloth if required, but it's not easy to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've noticed that any plush carpet the robot vacuum that vacuums and mops crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, and can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of clever features, including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can manage and set up these via the Roborock app, which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to plan cleanings and monitor the battery's lifespan. You'll have to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering how well-performing it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop with incredible suction power, sophisticated mowing capabilities, and ingenuity features. Its intelligent design allows for customised and efficient cleaning while saving you time.

The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first one to provide 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is among the most powerful options available. This powerful vacuum can clear up pet hair dust, crumbs and any other dry mess. It comes with a mop of high quality that cleans hard floors without the need for pads. Additionally, the X40 is quiet in operation, only producing occasional bursts of noise when switching between modes or when completing self-maintenance tasks.

The X40 also has a side brush that is able to be extended and lifted. This lets it reach into corners that are hard to reach and clean furniture that is curved like table and chair legs. The robot is also able to reach under low-profile furnishings which makes it a great choice for small apartments or condos. The side brush tilts automatically down when it spots wet spots. This is a nice feature that allows the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors through repeated back-and-forth movements.

In contrast to other robots that are limited to a single task, the X40 can vacuum and mop at the same time. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors and skip carpeted areas or reverse the process. It can be controlled through the Dreame app or with Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for a seamless voice-controlled operation.

The app is intuitive and easy to use and the X40's clever features are simple to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, see floor plans and mapping and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also monitor its progress and notify you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with numerous features that make it an excellent choice for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin, and clean mop pads before refilling them with fresh cleaning solution and water. It can also detect the moment when the mop pad has reached its capacity to the max and alert you to the situation before it overflows.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available on the market. However, it has several characteristics that make it stand out. Its mops have a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. This makes use of two mops with high-speed motors to clean floors more thoroughly than the conventional method, and it has a high maximum suction power of 7,000Pa. This is higher than Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also remove pet hair, small dirt particles and remove spills and dirty spots.

The mops are also cleaned and dried inside the base station after every use. This feature is great because it stops mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuums and mop models, and it could be a useful method of keeping your home hygienic for longer.

There's a wealth of options available which include the possibility to schedule cleaning appointments and adjust a number of different preferences. The app lets you set these preferences or use the buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and has a lot of options for customising the cleaning process, and there are many features that other robots don't include, such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power whenever it detects dust particles, instead of using an individual setting.

The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a white-and-metallic finish that looks sophisticated and classy. It's a bit heavier than some of the other two-in-one robots on this list - at around 4kg but it's not too heavy either, and it is sturdy and well-built. Mopping is well-designed and the double-rotating mop is great for hard floors or in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to reach even 2mm below the baseboards.
