The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used while you're at work, or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and offer better cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to pull back and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum cleaner best vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the rivals. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot cleaner with mop in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it will cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, and washes and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on how dirty they tend to be.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to set up a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
